Our commitment

Athella Tea is a family-owned Australian tea company. We're passionate about sourcing only the highest quality ingredients from growers, plantations and communities who share our commitment to ethical, sustainable, and fair trade farming practices. We value family, health and our environment, and that's why our teas are created with organic goodness, so you can rest assured that you're drinking a cup of tea just as nature had intended. Athella Tea blends are mindfully curated, created and blended with the planet in mind, and with love, from our family to yours.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

We are committed to continuing to explore new ways to provide sustainable wellness tea blends to our community without losing quality and goodness. We're thrilled to have recently refined our packaging and are delighted to now provide recyclable outer packaging with completely compostable NatureFlex inner packaging. Our teabags themselves, are also made from a compostable and plant based material and are biodegradable. Plus, they are lovingly crafted with no strings, tags or staples.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

There's no strings attached here! Or tags or staples, for that matter, plus our teabags are made from a compostable and plant based material and are biodegradable. We're picky too... And so we are thrilled to let you know that 95% of our herbs are organic and certified organic, ethically sourced from plantations that use regenerative and sustainable farming practices. And our packaging; well, we have recently refined our packaging and are delighted to now provide recyclable outer packaging with completely compostable NatureFlex inner packaging. We will always strive to have minimal impact on our Earth, this means we will continue to rework and evaluate every area of our business, as new technology becomes available so that we are always doing better.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

We're a small, Australian family owned business striving for big things! And building from the ground up, we started with the source. We're committed to partnering only with farms and plantations that share our values, and that means they are fair trade practice certified and use ethical and sustainable farming practices. As we grow, we'll continue to strive for better, better for our planet and better for you and your family.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

Right back to when Athella was just a dream, community focused was always going to be at our core, that and great tasting, clean, premium, organic tea. We love giving back in every, and anyway we can, and that's why we choose to support charities both locally within our community and nationally. Over our first year in business, we've supported some amazing charities that are doing great things, and we intend to continue to do so, and that's a promise! Here are just a few... Headspace, Cancer Council, Liptember, Flood appeal Lismore, Movember, Neurofibromatoses locally, Sunrise Kitchen and of course, the Biggest Morning Tea.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

We are committed to sourcing native Australian botanicals through respected programs that support the employment of indigenous families and their communities. To make this happen, we've recently partnered with Australian Super Foods and cannot wait to begin a new adventure on our journey. Stay tuned; there are some very exciting things to come!
