Our commitment

At the heart of B2C Furniture is our deep desire to make substance and style affordable to the environmentally conscious Australian. By thoughtfully curating a range constructed by sustainable hardwood timber, we are committed to providing hard-wearing, high value pieces, whilst empowering our community with sustainable consumer habits. We are makers of modern, mindful furniture that won't cost the Earth, nor cost the Earth its survival.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

At B2C Furniture, we know that fast furniture - not unlike fast fashion - is quickly becoming a large problem and a main contributor to landfills across the world. We are pioneers in the furniture space, in that we pride ourselves on manufacturing hard-wearing, hardwood furniture pieces that are designed to stand the test of time, and be recycled or repurposed when they reach the end of their life. The timber used to manufacture our products is all sustainably sourced and certified with the timber industry board in Malaysia, and we also partner with Carbon Positive to help to offset our carbon footprint, and further reduce our impact on the planet. We have taken up recycling initiatives in the workplace, and are making great strides towards improving our packaging - which is currently comprised mostly of sturdy cardboard. Our rare support instances are focussed around looking past minor imperfections in the interest of reducing emissions in transport where it makes sense for our customers. We are encouraging our customers to make sustainable choices in every aspect of their lives, and have also created a ‘sustainability calculator’ to further educate people on the impacts their decisions have.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

The rubberwood that our hardwood furniture is constructed from is harvested from Malaysian Rubberwood trees in - you guessed it - Malaysia. These trees are only felled when they have completed the latex production cycle - at a rough age of about 25 years. One Rubberwood tree produces on average 0.04 tonnes of timber - which works out on average to 1.3 Queen beds. Hardwood is known to be one of the most naturally renewable energy sources; unlike 'fast furniture' made of chipboard, it has a long lifespan and can be repurposed once its time as a bed, coffee table, or chair has come to an end.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

We definitely do! All our manufacturing partners meet international labour standards, and we are always striving to improve our supply chain methodology. We also employ use of both an external and internal representative to keep us accountable and abiding by local and ethical laws and regulations, as well as ensuring our brand values are maintained throughout our entire supply chain process.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

One of the biggest ways we give back to the community is through our partnership with Carbon Positive. We have an upcoming case study with them due to come out soon, and we are super excited about that! We have partnered with a number of businesses that aim to give back to the community, from Cottage By The Sea to Odyssey House, and we are always looking for opportunities to give back and spread the word on sustainability.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

At B2C Furniture, we pride ourselves on never discriminating against employees (or potential candidates), based on any factors at all. We are committed to an inclusive workplace that helps its employees to feel heard and valued.
