Our commitment

Boost Mobile had been helping Australians get connected for over 20 years. A few years ago we launched our Refurb Shop with the goal to offer a premium value product that also gives back to the planet by cutting down e-waste and your carbon footprint. Our devices are thoroughly checked and all come with a 12 month warranty to give you peace of mind. Our award winning trade-in app completes the full reuse and recycle circle offering customers a simple way to recycle their old devices and reduce landfill while earning some cash. Working with our partners we aim to reuse 98% of all devices received. Customers can join the circular economy and give new life to their unwanted devices.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

We are focused on reducing e-waste and landfill by promoting the reuse and recycling of old devices through our refurb shop and trade-in app. Our goal is to give new life to unwanted devices, and we’re proud that 98% of all equipment received is refurbished and repurposed. Where this is not possible these devices are recycled back in to usable materials, keeping harmful waste out of landfill. Boost Mobile has sold refurbished devices online for over three years and the trade-in program sees the offering come full circle maximising the life cycle of old phones and helping keep devices in use and out of landfill for as long as possible. For every second-hand device created and reintroduced to the marketplace, a new device is not being manufactured in its place to fit that same need. Having smartphones be a more regular feature of the circular economy also means less e-waste and landfill. In the UN’s 2020 Global E-Waste Monitor, Australia was reported to create 21.3kg of e-waste (including smartphones) per capita, but only recycling 9% of this. Europe by comparison leads the charge recycling 42.5% of its 16.2kg waste per capita, and North America follows recycling 15% of 20.9kg e-waste per capita.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

Boost uses 100% recycled material for our SIM packaging and we are moving towards having 100% recycled packaging across all our products in 2024.

  • How are the service/s you offer environmentally friendly?

Boost Mobile has sold refurbished devices online for over three years and the trade-in program sees the offering come full circle maximising the life cycle of old phones and helping keep devices in use and out of landfill for as long as possible. • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

We are constantly reviewing our partnerships with our most recent project working with Surfaid helping support families access basic services like healthcare, clean water and food security. Our partnership with WSL also encompasses the One Ocean program with the vital mission of protecting our one ocean.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

We're all about fostering a culture of equality where everyone can truly be themselves at work. We're constantly stepping up our game to make our inclusive workplace even better, ensuring that each and every one of our team members feels supported, respected, and totally at home. Our vision extends through our partnerships where we promote and support gender equality and diversity.
