Camilla

At CAMILLA, our vision is to colour the world. More than a global fashion house, we are a collective of Print Makers, Storytellers, Adventurers and Artisans, taking inspiration from the world around us to empower others and transport the soul.

Our commitment

CAMILLA is more than a fashion brand. We see ourselves as a platform which speaks from the heart to empower, break down barriers and bring about change. We are Print Makers, Storytellers, Adventurers and Artisans, committed to consciously creating beautiful works of art with minimal impact on the environment. Our pieces are designed as collectible works of art, created for longevity, to be cared for, repaired and treasured for generations. We align with a very select group of print mills – who understand the attention to detail we require, and conscientiously follow best printing practices – to help us produce them. As a female-founded, female-led brand, we are committed to standing up and speaking for our Mother Earth and being a force for good in the world.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

CAMILLA swing tags are made from 70% recycled materials, woven labels made from 60% recycled yarn, satin tape and swing tag cord plaque created from 100% recycled polyester, and button bags from 100% recycled material and FSC®-certified. Our store bags, tissue paper, online shipping boxes and premium boxes are all recyclable and developed with APCO’s Sustainable Packaging Guidelines. In our quest to reduce plastic usage throughout the business, this year we began phasing out polybags for our online shipping orders. All swimwear and activewear products are sent in POLLAST!C Mailers are made from 100% Ocean Bound Plastic pollution.* All plastic bags used in our warehouse and Boutiques are made with recycled materials. We also offer laundry bags, which are scientifically proven to counteract the microplastic pollution caused by clothes washing.^ * Independent Life Cycle Analysis ^ Independently tested by the German Textile Research Center North West, DTNW, Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT and University of California at Santa Barbara as part of the Patagonia research program and found to withstand 50 household washes (ISO 6330) without damage and without releasing any plastic particles into the water.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

All our swimwear is lovingly crafted using Econyl ®, a sustainable premium Italian textile, recycled from regenerated materials salvaged from our oceans. Our mens' boardshorts are all made with a Global Recycled Standard polyester textile crafted from post-consumer waste (predominantly PET bottles). Our prints are hand-drawn and painted by in-house artists, then produced in very limited quantities using an efficient digital printing process, which uses up to 90% less energy, ink and water than traditional screen printing. This method also allows for less material wastage as there is no minimum length yardage required. Luxury shouldn’t be wasteful, so we design with circularity in mind. Many of our prints are printed on silk, which is a renewable resource. It can biodegrade, and uses less water, chemicals, and energy than many other fibres. As we know, sustainable fashion is all about longevity, so the best news of all is that, when cared for correctly, silk can last for generations. We also offer a CAMILLA rental service, in partnership with GlamCorner, which allows us to reduce the impact unused clothes have on our beautiful Mother Earth.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

Community, connection and love are the backbones of our brand. That’s why we partner with i=Change to donate $1 of every online order to one of the following three charities; The Hunger Project, Women’s Community Shelters, and the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Together, these charities work to stop child marriage through education, protect victims of domestic violence by providing shelter, and help to prevent women dying from breast cancer through crucial research. So far, CAMILLA has raised $489,482 and counting. We have always believed that empowerment begins with education. The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) has created life-changing programs to help lift literacy levels within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. For the past 3 years, we have collaborated with David Jones to create Literacy Is Freedom t-shirts, with 100% of the profits donated to the ALNF.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

At CAMILLA, we are committed to diversity and equity, and very passionate about creating an inclusive work environment. We are an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified candidates for our open roles regardless of age, gender, race, colour, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, family or carer’s responsibilities. We are incredibly proud to be a multicultural workplace and we love celebrating our diversity in all its glory!
