Enjoy luxury home fragrances sustainably

Our commitment

In homes across Australia, 4 million candles are burned every year to create relaxing and welcoming home environments and mask any unwanted household smells. The problem is most glass candle and diffuser containers are single-use as they’re made of materials that can’t be recycled. That’s over three thousand tonnes of containers cluttering up homes, and inevitably ending up in landfill every year. CandleXchange believes you should be able to create the ambient home environment you want without resorting to toxic chemicals or creating a mountain of waste. Our easy ‘Return & Swap’ system reuses every empty container you return. That makes our luxury fragrances including candles more environmentally friendly, more economical, and more accessible to everyone. By shopping with CandleXchange you’re helping us prevent one million single use containers and 100 tonnes of packaging waste from entering landfill by 2030.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

Every time you create a natural and luxurious home ambience with the CandleXchange ‘Return & Swap’ range, you’re stopping up to 1kg of non-recyclable containers from entering landfill. With your help, we plan to prevent 1 million containers and 100 tonnes of packaging waste from entering landfill by 2030. Natural ingredients Soy wax is made from soy beans, which are a renewable crop, and the by-product soy bean husks are biodegradable. Paraffin wax is a by-product of the oil industry, which is not renewable and energy intensive to produce. That makes soy wax a big win for the environment! We care about packaging waste too We don’t just think about product waste but everything that is wrapped around it. 40% of landfill is actually from packaging alone, so we use packaging that can be re-used, recycled or compostable. Boxes replaced with reusable bags When you buy your first CandleXchange candle, the candle comes in a reusable pouch that is ethically handmade from plants by social enterprise Earth Worthy. These bags are made by people in Bangladesh who survived a garment factory collapse in 2013.
