Our commitment

Purposeful waste separation is kind of a big deal to us. It is at the heart of everything we do and it’s no exaggeration to say it is what gets us out of bed in the morning. With millions of tonnes of waste ending up in landfill every year, we’re here to help you do your bit. Small, easy changes can be revolutionary. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do and diversion from landfill is our mission. We are so proud of the work we have done to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

Ecobin offers a waste separation system that helps people make better choices about where they put their waste. Our products are tough and designed for reuse, but even good things eventually come to an end. We're conscious of the impact our products have on the earth during every stage of their life, so we've make sure our products are fully recyclable at the end of their use. We conducted a life cycle assessment of Ecobin, which gave us the right information to understand our carbon impact and what carbon can be offset. The original Ecobin range is flat packed, which uses less transport emission as less needs to be transported. Although an Ecobin uses 50% less energy in its manufacturing compared to an equivalent plastic bin, we still decided to action a carbon offset program for the balance of the emissions. Over the many years of carbon offset, we have taken away 2.5 million km equivalent of car travel. That's tonnes of emissions that would have normally had a terrible impact. This means our customers are sustainable before they even begin.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

Our indoor bins are made of corrugated plastic, requiring substantially less energy to manufacture than injection moulded plastic bins and/or metal bins, which is why they are a great alternative. Our black range is made from post consumer plastic waste, leaving a smaller carbon footprint than if we were to use virgin plastic. Our range of outdoor bins are Australian made from up to 40% of recycled materials. Made of high-quality and water-resistant materials designed to be durable and washable to get the most use out of them as possible. Ecobins are proudly Aussie made and delivered flat-packaged, which majorly cuts import and freight emissions, leaving less of a footprint. All Ecobins are fully recyclable at the end of their life!

  • How are the service/s you offer environmentally friendly?

We empower people to take control of their waste separation, actively making decisions that benefit the environment. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do! By implementing our bins in the home or office, more waste is diverted from landfill, which is always a big YES in our books! We prove that actually very little waste needs to end up in landfill, a huge majority can be recycled. That's where we come in. Between our mixed recycling bins, paper bins, glass and soft plastic, we have a way to recycle just about everything you will come across. Our black corflute range is also made from recycled materials and our corflute bins can be recycled at the end of their life, once again, reducing landfill.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

Ecobin is passionate about giving back to the community and partnering with brands with a similar vision to help the planet. Over the past decade and a half, we have supported and partnered with the following organisations: - World Wild Life Australia - Plastic Oceans Australasia - Keep Australia Beautiful - Marine Mammal Foundation - My Small Help Australia - One Tree Planted - Hear No Evil Australian Deaf Dog Rescue

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?
