Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

We are all about designing and providing real solutions to everyday environmental issues. We have worked with the composting industry to ensure our compostable nappies are suitable for commercial composting. Eenee's are the only nappy to be allowed in TAS Council FOGO bins in Hobart, Glenorchy, Kingborough Councils & in WA in Margaret River, in Brisbane SUEZ allow them in their paid for Organics service. We continue to work towards having them allowed in other States and have a number of projects underway in the South Pacific. Our exciting new superabsorbent cloth nappy inserts provide another eco choice for parents. However, we also recognise that washing garments discharges significant microfibers and microplastics into our environment with 35% of primary plastic that is polluting our oceans coming from laundry, so eenee is launching its patent pending economical and effective microplastics filter bag suitable for all washing machines, helping everyone reduce their contribution to this growing problem.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

Our compostable nappies are made with sustainable materials suitable for commercial composting, but it is more about what they are not made from that is important, no petrochemical plastics, no harmful chemicals and less resources overall. Our reusable garments are made with OEKO TEX certified materials to ensure they are safe for next to babies skin. We use either compostable, recyclable or no packaging where possible.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

We work closely with our manufacturers and suppliers to ensure they are fair and ethical, with both physical and virtual meetings to monitor their work conditions.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

While we think globally, we act locally, and our community is very important to us. To help progress organics recycling in our local Hobart community, we started a FOGO bin service so that our customers would have a method to 'recycle' their nappies along with their garden and food waste. We were pleased a few years later when our local Councils rolled out FOGO to all residents and allowed our eenee nappies as feedstock, as we had already proven them as suitable. We supported a successful trail with the Bega Council to demonstrate the suitability of having compostable nappies included in residential FOGO bins. Other successful trials have been done in Pacific Island and Indonesia all with the aim of helping to reduce plastic waste. We also support others in the community who are directly helping people, our environment and wildlife, with financial or product donations e.g., to The Koala Foundation and Save The Children.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

We are a small family company founded by a mother of two with an analytical chemistry & dress making background. Still champion the cause and innovating along with the next generation, our company is happily inclusive of everyone.

  • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

Our innovative products are based on the circular economy and environment with every detail designed to be reused or recycled. We take product development to the next level with not only the materials used, product functionality & aesthetics but also designing out 'the end of life' and standard landfill practice. We believe if you can design environmentally friendly products that are easy and nice to use, then customers will be encouraged to use them in place of others.
