Our commitment

From the earth, for the Earth. Ewe Care is an all natural skincare offering that looks after the planet as well as it looks after your skin! From product to packaging, every aspect of Ewe Care is made to proudly reflect and honour the land it’s made on. If our packaging seems a little different to what you’ve received from other companies, it’s likely because it is. Every aspect of our packaging — from our cream sachets, to the box they arrive in — is compostable. It’s respectfully made from the earth and can be safely returned to it. Ewe Care was created as a solution to a problem and we don’t intend to create new ones with our packaging. We believe the skincare industry can and should be doing better by the environment and we carry that through every aspect of our brand. By using Ewe Care, you’ve made a better choice for your skin and the planet.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

Ewe Care addresses a significant gap in the Australian skincare market and gives life to exceptional ingredients that are otherwise going to waste. Launched in July 2021 in an attempt to minimise waste on the farm, Ewe Care re-purposes sheep milk not suitable for cheesemaking and combines it with native Tasmanian botanicals to create a universal skincare range that heals, nourishes and restores skin naturally. Turning the cost of waste into a real marketable product, Ewe Care is pioneering the natural category with an original offering and providing an innovative solution to daily skincare concerns such as psoriasis, acne, eczema and skin ageing. Housed in locally made ceramic vessels and packaged in 100% home compostable materials, Ewe Care is committed to preserving the environment and minimising single use plastic waste in Australia.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

If our packaging seems a little different to what you’ve received from other companies, it’s likely because it is. Every aspect of our packaging — from our cream sachets, to the box they arrive in — is compostable. It’s respectfully made from the earth and can be safely returned to it. Ewe Care was created as a solution to a problem and we don’t intend to create new ones with our packaging. We believe the skincare industry can and should be doing better by the environment and we carry that through every aspect of our brand including, but not limited to beautiful hand thrown Raku ceramic containers.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

Ewe Care is focussed on featuring Tasmanian sourced ingredients and packaging in it's offering as well as engaging the services of local and Australian based service and manufacturing businesses for manufacturing of packaging and marketing collateral. We have partnered with our local ceramicist, Ian Clare, to highlight our commitment to featuring locally sourced ingredients and local artisans as an integral part of Ewe Care's messaging and commitment to consumers and to add real value to the circular packaging proposition of Ewe Care.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

At Ewe Care we participate in a local initiative to provide employment and training to people who identify as first nations people and have done for the last 10 years. Aside from our commitment to providing equal opportunity and local employment in an Australian region we also give back to the local community via sponsorships of initiatives that have a tangible local community benefit such as; * sponsorship of the local soccer, cricket and surf life saving clubs. * donations of on farm produced compost and other organic materials for the local school garden. * the donation of items for fund raising for local community groups and the local school. * volunteer in a mentorship programme for the local school. * designated local business providing work experience for local students.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

At Ewe Care we participate in a local initiative to provide employment and training to people who identify as first nations people and have done for the last 10 years. We are proud to say that we have employed and formally trained some 6 local first nations identifying people during this period and we were the first business in the region to sign up for the programme. This is not exceptional. It is interwoven into every element of who we are since inception of our parent company some 20 years ago. Diversity, equality and inclusion is a natural part of the ecosystem of Ewe Care and all of our other affiliated businesses. It's so deeply ingrained in us that this question almost seems odd? We all thrive in diversity, thus it stands to reason that in order to exist in business the business ecosystem must by definition be diverse in all of its elements?

  • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

Handcrafted from Tasmanian clay by local ceramicist, Ian Clare, Ewe Care's Raku ceramic vessels are the result of a unique, 35-step creation process designed to provide the user with a ritualistic and sensory skincare experience. Providing a functional and aesthetic purpose, each pot is available in a light or dark colourway and etched with burnt Awassi sheep wool to minimise organic waste and provide textural and creative embellishment. Reusable and environmentally-friendly, each ceramic pot is designed to accomodate 60ml of product and protect active ingredients from light and oxygen degradation. Supporting local craftsmanship, the ceramic vessel is made from naturally occurring raw materials and is a physical representation of Ewe Care's commitment to a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future.
