• Emissions & Key Environmental Issues

  What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

  Our phones are hiding a secret… ​ Every year, the data centres and mobile towers that support Aussie phones emit close to 1,000,000+ tonnes of CO2. That’s the same amount of carbon in a year as 386,000 passenger cars!​ Carbon offsetting our emissions​ Offsetting is a way of compensating for unavoidable CO2 emissions, by investing in projects which reduce emissions elsewhere. Over one million trees planted​ To date, we’ve already donated over 1,200,000 trees on behalf of our community around the world and here at home in Australia, with a goal to plant two million by the end of 2024. Essentially for every month you’re with felix, you’re supporting one little sapling to be grown in local nurseries, planted in the earth, and cared for in the wild in its early stages of life.​ Source: One Tree Planted and South Pole.​

  How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

  On felix, you can switch over to our mobile plan with a physical SIM card or an eSIM if you have a compatible device.​ eSIM​ An eSIM is an ‘embedded SIM’ which acts just like a virtual SIM card. Downloading an eSIM onto your compatible device means you can join felix in minutes. And because it’s completely digital, there’s no need for any plastic, manufacturing, packaging or delivery to get you set up!​ ​Physical SIM​ Joining with a physical SIM card? We’re proud to share that we use half-SIMs and provide a 3-in-1 size SIM card. Our packaging is also FSC-approved and made from responsible sources which can be recycled, and our SIMs are Eco-SIMs (made from 100% recycled PVC).​

• Community Initiatives

  How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

  Each of our tree projects are carefully selected for multiple benefits including their social, environmental and community impacts. These projects can provide employment through local jobs, and provide water filtration, creation of additional food sources, habitat for animals and more. ​ ​Additional donations we've made:​ + 25,000 trees donated to One Tree Planted on behalf of our community in celebration of World Environment Day 2021​ + 15,000 trees donated to an Australian Bushfire Relief projects in November of 2020 at launch of felix mobile​ + 6,000 seedlings donated to Eastern Forest Nursery to help with koala wildlife habitat​ ​Team volunteering:​ + 1,700 trees potted up for planting at Hawkesbury Community Nursery, part of Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife's Bushfire Recovery Nurseries program​ + 150 Sydney Red Gum Trees planted in the Bay area of Randwick Council – Yarra Bay Bicentennial Park​ + 1,000 trees planted by the felix team in Lismore Shire to help restore koala wildlife habitat​
