Our commitment

After more than a decade in the corporate marketing world, Kylie Peters (Founder and Curator at Gifts For The Planet) knew there had to be a better way of gifting valuable clients and staff, that didn't involve branded merchandise straight out of China, predominantly plastic and practically disposable. Costing companies a small fortune and majority of which end up in landfill! With an abundance of local, sustainable small businesses producing world class products and a growing number of conscious consumers looking for products that make a difference, Kylie knew this was the future of corporate gifting. Today, Gifts For The Planet offers these world class sustainable products to a national audience through thoughtfully curated sustainable gift boxes and hampers. Committed to sustainability at all costs, Gifts For The Planet is the only dedicated gift hamper company in the country that is 100% free from single use plastic. Always have been and always will be. Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

    At Gifts For The Planet we are 100% free from single use plastic. We reuse packaging materials from product suppliers composting or recycling any unusable packaging. All our new shipping & hamper boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard and 100% recyclable. We avoid purchasing any virgin materials.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

    All of our products are sustainable and free from single use plastic. Our product packaging is made from recycled products, recyclable, or compostable. All packaging of the products in our gift hampers is compostable and made from recycled or natural plant materials. Almost all products are chemical free/organic and hand-made.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

    Our baskets are all handwoven at village level and the money goes direct to the Artisans who make them. We pride ourselves on only supporting fair-trade at all costs. Never out of a factory! Our fair-trade baskets help to support the local weavers and their families by ensuring a stable income. Eco-friendly, sustainable, made from natural fibres (Elephant Grass & Seagrass). All other products are made in Australia.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

    FROM EVERY GIFT BASKET SOLD, WE DONATE ONE KOALA TREE TO BANGALOW KOALAS INC. At Gifts For The Planet we are passionate about giving back. One of the projects we have chosen to support is creating a wildlife corridor in Northern NSW, Byron Bay Shire and surrounds. Bangalow Koalas Inc. Creating a Wildlife Corridor project goal is to create a Koala wildlife corridor connecting existing sections of Koala habitat and food trees on the western side of Bangalow. This involves planting along the existing Koala corridor to enhance and expand current habitat creating a connection to new corridors, thereby encouraging Koalas out of urban areas away from threats to dog attacks and car strikes. Byron Shire Council has advised that this Koala population may carry a gene pool to help the species survive into the future. Bangalow Koalas Inc. is a registered Environmental Organisation with DGR status, and not-for-profit registered charity that is set up to educate, involve and inspire our community to help us protect and save our koalas.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

    Diversity and inclusion is a strategic priority for us in our collaborations, product sourcing and promotions. We prioritise sourcing of quality plastic free sustainable products from small businesses supporting our first nations people and we are proud to say that 95% of all of our products come from female led small businesses. We want to make a difference is as many people lives as we can.

  • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

    Our business produces minimal to no waste and is based on a circular business model. We avoid purchasing virgin materials and reuse 95% of packaging that comes into our business from suppliers. Because we only purchase from genuine sustainable small business, they too are using sustainable packaging, which is always reused, recycled or composted. We strategically keep our packaging simple, purposeful and organic, with zero waste to landfill. This we believe is simply beautiful and the reason Gifts For The Planet was started.
