Isle of Summer Label

Isle of Summer is an ethically made and Australian design women's fashion label. We're super transparent about who makes our clothes and we only design items you'll want to keep forever.

Our commitment

LOOK GOOD, DO GOOD: ETHICAL FASHION With the clothing industry contributing to some of the worst working conditions, at Isle of Summer Label we want to look good, while doing good. We partner with production partners who believe that brands should be responsible for not only the way they do business, but the environment and the communities they touch as well. Using a slow-fashion, small-batch model, we create enduring styles with layering options and classic, versatile pieces that encourage customers to build minimalist wardrobes and invest in garments they can keep for life. We work with factories that provide a living wage and good working conditions for their people, and we continually work to reduce any negative impacts of our supply chain. We believe in empowering women, and prioritise partnerships with companies led by women. The next phase of the journey is a transition to sustainable fabrics and production methods, to further reduce our environmental footprint.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

We send our orders in 100% bio-degradable mailing bags which can be reused for returns if need be. Our production partners ship garments in 100% bio-degradable poly bags and we encourage composting these where possible. All of our collections are made in small limited edition quantities, reducing our impact in landfill at end of life of the garments.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

We have a list of guiding principles of trade we expect all manufacturing partners and suppliers to meet, whether they are in Australia or abroad: Pays staff above the local minimum wage and is compliant with local laws and tax regulations Has a safe and clean workplace free of sexual harassment and bullying Does not exploit or use children Considers their environmental impact at all stages of manufacturing Zero tolerance policy to the unauthorised use of any sub contractor within our supply chain Committed to transparency and open communication

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

We make regular donations of goods to a local charity which supports children and families by recycling nursery equipment including cots, prams, and car seats, as well as clothes and other baby essentials and providing to those in need.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

Our Boss Lady has taken training around unconscious bias and uses these learnings when making business decisions. We are in the process of developing DEI strategy and plan as to better focus our efforts on improving diversity, equity, and inclusion. Once this has been finalised, it will be published on our website.
