Joyrolla

We create products for everyday with a focus on design & functionality. What started as a simple idea to make a modern but ‘cool granny cart’ has led us down a rabbit hole of sustainable living ideas with design, sustainability & movement in mind.

Our commitment

We believe in making products that are will last for many years in the hope that we can change the disposable mindset we find ourselves in today. For the Joyrolla Cart we’ve carefully selected 100% recycled nylon fabric and have used recycled cardboard, soy based inks and zero plastic packaging. The Joyrolla Cart is made to buck the trend of the disposable lifestyle with a modular design so you can replace the bag, wheels or cart as needed. Walking is the new car. World wide we are seeing concepts for a cities in which citizens can access their daily necessities by foot or by bike within 15-20 minutes of their home. This type of city will also help cut fossil fuel usage, carbon emissions and air pollution and, in turn, improve the health of both people and the planet. We see Joyrolla being an integral part of this new style of living in both Australia and abroad.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

At Joyrolla we believe in making products that are will last for many years in the hope that we can change the disposable mindset we find ourselves in today. For the Joyrolla Cart we’ve carefully selected 100% recycled nylon fabric and have used recycled cardboard, soy based inks and zero plastic packaging. • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

Our Joyrolla Cart bags are made from 100% recycled Nylon (made with the equivalent of 50 plastic bottles). The box it comes in is made from recycled stock with soy based inks which can be recycled. No plastic bags to be seen.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

Yes, all our products are made in ethical factories, all the workers are paid according to the local rules and within the local working restrictions.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

In the month of September we supported Reach Out to support mental health. We have a lot of ideas for the future and this space.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

We work with Australians and Chinese both female and male of various ages, we are a very small team so when it comes to hiring a team inclusivity is important to us.

  • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

As we are a start up, this will grow and change as we do. For the moment our Joyrolla Cart will have replaceable parts, we saw too many Shopping carts being ditched because the bag was wrecked or the wheels were broken. Our cart has replaceable wheels and a replaceable and washable bag. We would like to create a plan for end of life such as a repair centre but this will all come in time.
