Our commitment

Plum Play have a sustainable play vision. Our goal is that our outdoor play equipment will inspire children’s love of nature and the outdoors, cultivating a sense of love and responsibility towards the environment, and ensuring its preservation for future generations. We prioritise sustainability by using recyclable card and paper and reducing the amount of plastic in our packaging. Also, all the metal used in our trampolines is made from 100% recycled materials and the various components of our trampolines can be recycled at the end of product life. Plum is proud to have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) since its inception. We continue to work closely with FSC® to ensure that the wood for our products comes from responsibly managed forests and is of the highest quality. We have joined the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). A global alliance ensuring responsible forest management through independent third-party certification.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

When it comes to packaging our products, all our packaging is designed to minimise waste and uses recyclable cardstock. We have made an environmentally conscious decision to reduce the amount of plastic in our packaging. As the active play specialists, our production processes are not waste intensive, resulting in relatively low water and energy usage. We aim to further reduce energy consumption by exploring natural resource options with suppliers, including the possibility of solar panels and eco fuels for our factories. We make a deliberate effort to ensure that all our outdoor wooden products are made using FSC®-certified wood or from sustainable sources, so we support the responsible management of the world’s forests. Having sold over 2 million trampolines worldwide, we are happy that all our trampolines are made from recycled metals, resulting in a lower impact on emissions and landfill waste. Every element of our trampolines can be recycled after use, and they are designed with premium materials built to last for years to come, minimising waste impact. Plum Play wooden products can be repurposed or recycled at the end of product life, reducing the environmental impact. Even our sandpit liners can be recycled.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

We source natural and recycled materials to ensure our products are sustainably sourced and ethically manufactured. The steel used in our trampolines is derived from 100% recycled metal. We only use the most robust steel that is safe, durable and built to last. We strive to reduce plastic in our products and packaging to minimise our environmental and ecological impact. Together with this, all our products come in cardboard packaging that is both practically sturdy and recyclable. We are proud to support the responsible management of the world’s forests by ensuring that all our outdoor wooden products are made of FSC®-certified timber.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

We continue to work with our factories and suppliers to ensure that we exceed international labor standards. We consistently quality check and safety test our products to go above the required standards. All our factories are audited and accredited by BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) to ensure good working practices and conditions for staff. We also have a local team that visits our factories for routine labor standard checks. We are always looking for innovative ways to make our supply chain more sustainable. Plum Play are currently exploring practices to make our supply chain more sustainable by researching the possibility of installing solar panels as a sustainable energy source in our factories.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

We partner with the Born Free wildlife charity and support them through charitable donations. Born Free is an international charity working tirelessly to ensure animals thrive in the wild. We are equally proud to partner with the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. We are committed to working with them in supporting seriously ill children and their families. We work with the Rainbow Trust by supporting them at events and encouraging charitable donations.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

As a family-run business, Plum Play understands that family life requires flexibility. That’s why we have a hybrid and family-friendly work culture. At Plum Play we strongly believe in equal opportunities and diversity, which is why it is an integral part of our company guidelines. We strive to provide fair opportunities for everyone and work with influencers, organisations and individuals of all ages, genders, abilities and ethnicities.

  • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

We use organic material – all of our timber comes from managed forests and is suitable for repurposing or recycling. At Plum Play, we promote a circular model by using recycled steel in our trampolines. By utilising materials that have been previously used, we help to reduce waste and close the loop in the manufacturing process. We also encourage customers to upcycle their play equipment and love seeing people share their Plum Play upcycling creations with us on social media. Not only is upcycling in this way a fun family project it’s great to see as it helps the environment and continues our circular model.
