Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

At RCYCL, our mission is to minimise the amount of textile waste that ends up in landfills. In order to address this issue, we provide customers with a fully biodegradable satchel for returning items to us using Sendle, our chosen courier that specialises in carbon-neutral delivery services. All textiles we receive are carefully sorted according to their fiber type and then transformed into new yarn. By utilising recycled materials, we actively promote the concept of circularity within the fashion industry and create innovative products. Furthermore, we are proud partners with one of Australia's largest textile recyclers, which enables us to make a significant positive impact on the environment. Our dedication extends to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

The RCYCL Return Satchel is made from completely biodegradable and compostable materials; corn starch, PLA (synthesised from corn) and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate).

  • How are the service/s you offer environmentally friendly?

We have chosen Better Packaging Co as the provider of our RCYCL Return Satchels, ensuring that they are entirely biodegradable. Additionally, our preferred courier service, Sendle, specialises in carbon-neutral delivery, aligning with our commitment to environmental sustainability.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

Our current initiatives include the implementation of contracts for ethical sourcing and combating modern slavery in our supply chain. Additionally, we are proud partners with one of the largest textile recyclers in Australia, enabling us to make a positive impact on the environment.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

At RCYCL, we collaborate with schools, businesses, and brands to drive sustainable initiatives. We organise fundraising events for schools, sponsor sustainability-forward fashion events, and engage in brand collaborations.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

RCYCL is committed to achieving and maintaining inclusion and diversity. Here are some ways we have taken action: Inclusive Work Culture: We have fostered an environment that promotes respect and belonging for all employees. We celebrate diversity through programs and workshops that encourage open dialogue and feedback. Diverse Hiring Practices: We have implemented inclusive hiring practices to ensure a diverse workforce. Our recruitment processes are bias-free, and we actively reach out to underrepresented communities to increase diversity. Supplier Diversity: We prioritise working with diverse suppliers and vendors who align with our commitment to diversity.

  • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

By gathering worn-out garments that would otherwise end up in landfills, we actively contribute to reducing textile waste. Through the process of collecting and sorting these garments, we are able to regenerate them into brand new yarn, enabling us to promote circularity within the fashion industry. This approach helps us prevent textiles from being discarded into landfills, making a positive environmental impact.
