rePodder

Finally! A new method to recycle your Nespresso® & compatible coffee capsules with ease via your kerbside bin.

Our commitment

Our Mission Provide an alternate option that is convenient (and with minimal footprint) to redirect billions of aluminium coffee pods into the recycling stream. The solution for responsible & ethical disposal of coffee pods needs to have the same level of convenience as making a consistent brew from the capsules. Find a way to utilise existing kerbside recycling infrastructures to expend the least carbon footprint associated with recycling aluminium coffee capsules – resulting in positive impact on the environment. Our Vision Increase the recovery of easily recycled aluminium, to assist in saving a natural resource that is currently being lost to landfill. Decrease the greenhouse gas emissions by reducing coffee grounds decomposing in landfill. Our Values Sustainability is at the very core of this initiative. Reducing emissions lowers our carbon footprint & environmental impact on a world that we inherited and will be handing to future generations. Educating our communities is key.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

In Essence: rePodder has a clear committed to ensuring the end of life of the aluminium coffee capsules have the least impact as possible. This is achieved by removing excessive emission from transport and processing the capsule to result in a clean piece of aluminium. Using the patented rePodder method, consumers reduce their carbon footprint by saving precious aluminium for recycling to contibrute to a new product. Packaging: We use only biodegradable/compostable mailers with padding material being natural hex paper. Labels are also biodegradable/compostable.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

To extend the lifecycle of rePodder, the cutting head can be replaced when blunt, therefore it is made of the highly recyclable plastic, Polypropylene (#2 on recycling scale). The main body material is ABS, chosen for it's tough and durable qualities, in order to further extend the product's lifecycle - anticipating advancements in plastics recycling by the time the body has reached the end of its life.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

rePodder supports local business wherever possible, including partnering with our manufacturer based in Brisbane, Australia to produce the product. The manufacturer complies with the Australian standards for ethical treatment of their labour force with pay rates and conditions.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

Though using rePodder greatly reduces the carbon emissions from transporting, storage and processing associated with aluminium coffee capsules to get them ready for recycling, we appreciate that the single act of transporting the rePodder product to customers, has an impact on carbon emission. Therefore rePodder has partnered with One Tree Planted, to pledge a tree for every delivery sent from rePodder.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

rePodder is committed to being an inclusive workplace that prides itself on recognising and valuing the individual differences, backgrounds, perspectives, qualities and insights provided by our workers. rePodder strives to ensure that all our workers feel supported and comfortable at work. We appreciate that our workers bring a range of differing skills and ideas to the workplace. This may be due to individual perspectives, life experience, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, cultural background, religious belief, socio-economic background, disability, marital or family status, or age. rePodder recognises that there is strength in the diversity of our workers, and harnessing these can assist us to improve the workplace, as well as enhancing our overall performance and decision-making. • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

rePodder's circular business model modifies the pattern of product and material flowing through the economy (eg. educating and enabling consumer to divert aluminium coffee capsules away from landfill sites, to be recycled via kerbside collection). This unique rePodder method reduces the adverse environmental side-effects resulting from the extraction, use, and waste through burying the aluminium, which contains the natural resource of bauxite used for making the aluminium. Equipping consumers with a method that is as convenient to recycle as it is to make a cup of coffee (with less emissions than original 'collect & return' programs), delivers on a consumer-lead initiative to reduce carbon footprint without losing the convenience of quality coffee.
