Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

100% EMISSIONS FREE - At our HQ office and warehouse in Billinudgel, we use renewable energy in the form of solar panels, meaning that we are 100% emissions free. In fact in 2020 we generated 3x the amount of solar energy than we needed, which all gets sent back to the grid for someone else to use. PACKAGING - We reuse cardboard boxes and shred them for protective filling in our orders. Mailer boxes are made here in Australia with a local company, made from recycled cardboard and shipped plastic free so that our packaging materials can be recycled or composted at home. END OF LIFE - We offer a Take Back Program for our silicone products that have reached the end of their life cycle and they are recycled through Terracycle. We've also teamed up with Upparel, a company on a mission to reduce the amount of textiles that end up in landfill each year. You can send them a box of your unwanted clothes or textiles & you'll get $25 off your next order with us!

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

From the outset, our products are developed with their end of life in mind. We consider every component of the product and it’s packaging to ensure that they are fit for purpose. All new products that we develop must be either: Long lasting and recyclable at their end of life. We also offer spare parts to extend the longevity of long term, high quality products. Compostable: products like our cleaning and personal care range which have a high high turnover. Zero Waste: Our Bar range aims to leave nothing behind at the end of life.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

A question we get a lot is "where are your products made?" Our products are designed by us in Byron Bay, Australia and made for us by manufacturing partners in Australia, China and India. As we are cleaning up the supply chain and bringing more and more of our production domestically, as global citizens we also believe it is important to distribute jobs in communities near and far. However, the carbon footprint of shipping these products internationally is worrisome. Also, like many of you, we share our customer’s concerns about working conditions abroad, and we work to make sure that the suppliers we choose to partner with provide ethical treatment to their employees and the environment. We visit our manufacturing partners ourselves, and we have our products independently tested to ensure that that they comply with all applicable safety standards, including GOTS organic certification for all our woven goods.

We’ve been fortunate to work with a number of local and global charities to support causes that are important to us. We donated $50,000 to the Orangutan Alliance We donated 10,000 meals to Oz Harvest We planted a tree for every order from our inception up to February 2021 In 2021 we donated 10% of sales from our Back to School Bundles to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation We donated all proceeds from our Seed & Sprout 2019 Christmas gift wrapping service to WIRES (Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service)
