Spark Pop

SPARK POP is Australia's experience platform for kids + families. Discover, book + gift 100s of activities, attractions, tours + live events for 3 to 16 year olds + their families!

Our commitment

SPARK POP is on a mission to encourage people to choose sustainable ways for children to play, be inspired, and create lasting memories. To accomplish this, we work with several organisations to help reduce toys ending up in landfill and to give back to underprivileged children. As a purpose-led business, we started from the heartache around the number of toys cluttering homes, knowing 80% end up in landfill with 90% made of plastic. To us, the impacts of experiences for kids and families extend threefold – Planet Friendly. Supporting Local. Healthy Kids. It is our intention to tread lightly reducing our carbon footprint wherever possible. We are passionate about contributing to the sustainability of the childrens’ activities and leisure industry. New things and experiences trigger the release of dopamine, motivating us, and leads to the creation of new neurons and neural connections.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

SPARK POP works with several organisations to help reduce plastics and toys going to landfill and to give back to underprivileged children. We’re making it easier for you to recycle your household’s pre-loved toys with TerraCycle‘s Zero Waste Box™ solution – now available at Area 51, + Miss Petite Day Spa, with more locations to come. This initiative is funded by the Social Enterprise Development Grant project, proudly supported and funded by the Queensland Government. We truly believe play is powerful and that good toys are necessary for creating happy and healthy children. Toy Libraries Australia foster sharing and reusing, a key component of the circular economy for toys. All orders are shipped using a Hero Packing biodegradable mailer and label. Any stickers, paper, card stock for orders or marketing is printed by Sustainable Printing Co., using 100% recycled paper, sustainable stocks, eco inks and green electricity. Kids outgrow stuff; they never outgrow adventure. By choosing experiences over new toys or games more often, we contribute to a sustainable future by reducing plastic consumption and waste.

  • How are the service/s you offer environmentally friendly?

Focused on stopping the guesswork and reducing the number of gifts that end up in the bin next month by considering “do they want it, do they need it, and will they still appreciate it in a few weeks?” Our vision is to untrash playrooms, landfill and oceans from harmful plastics by making it easier for people to choose sustainable ways for children to play, be inspired and create lasting memories. The challenge is how to achieve the triple tick: Quality Affordable Desirable SPARK POP wants to see more gift champs equipped with alternatives, including a SPARK POP Gift Card. Designed to feed curiosity and LEVEL UP a child’s identity minus the junk. Using recyclable materials with packaging, along with encouraging old toys to be recycled with TerraCycle‘s Zero Waste Box™, assists our mission with reducing plastics and toys that go to landfill. We encourage ways to educate, inspire, entertain and get children ACTIVE by venturing out into new environments and trying new things, rather than buying toys and games that could end up in landfill within a few weeks or months! Longer-lasting than a toy, SPARK POP experiences unlock everlasting memories, new interests, friendships and bring families closer together.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

SPARK POP exists to provide services and benefits which add value to every day life of working parents, their support networks, and children. We have partnered with Dream Nannies who shares our values of offering services focused on enhancing parents and families' wellbeing. All products are sourced from Australian suppliers. Majority of our experience brands are small business owners with local employees, helping us support the community by providing a place to connect, be active, learn or be inspired and entertained. We work with TerraCycle with their Zero Waste Box™, funded by the Social Enterprise Development Grant project; supported and funded by the Queensland Government. We collaborate with Toy Libraries Australia to foster sharing and reusing; a key component of the circular economy for toys. We have partnered with the Brisbane South Toy Library to provide Membership purchasing for our customers. We donate .30 cents from every transaction to The Smith Family to support the delivery of educational programs for Australian children in need to succeed at school. During the 10-day annual World Children’s Day Fundraiser, $1 from every purchase over $50 is donated to children's charities.
