Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

Understanding and reducing the impact of Sukin’s activities on the natural environment is of key importance to BWX (our parent company) and its goal of natural beauty for the world. In order of increasing importance, BWX identifies carbon neutrality, energy-use, water-use and waste management as key material risks to the ongoing success of our business. These initiatives include: - Every product BWX produces contains a high level of natural ingredients. - Carbon offsetting of the Sukin brand. - Our new operations facility has been designed to support production efficiencies, such as automated tank cleaning which will reduce the amount of water consumed in the cleaning process. The new facility also has a waste management system to measure and reduce waste, as well as solar panels. - A trade waste agreement with South East Water to remediate factory water. - Moved to preform bottles and inhouse blow moulding, providing ability to control colour & RPET% content as well as reducing weight of our PET bottles to improve environmental footprint. - New factory has eliminated shrink-wraps from our products.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

Responsibly managing waste and packaging is a priority for BWX (Sukin’s parent company) in our endeavours to minimise environmental impact. Our commitment includes: - Part of APCO targets is to get to 50% recycled materials and 100% recyclable materials, & for all products to have disposal / recovery information included. - Currently all of our shippers/cartons are fully recyclable with our shippers being made with recycled content. - We have recently started making our 125ml, 500ml & 1L Sukin bottles from rPET materials. rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) is manufactured from used, recycled, and repurposed plastic that is collected and then reprocessed to make new packaging. rPET is a more environmentally friendly solution as it allows us to reduce our requirement to create virgin plastic. In the future, more of our range will switch over to recycled content.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

BWX (Sukin's parent company) subscribes to the Supplier Code of Conduct to ensure that our supply chain partners do not use any forced labour / child labour / indentured labour, have good workplace standards and will cooperate with us on environmental standards. A Modern Slavery Report is published each year.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

In FY22, our Programs & Partnerships for BWX Group, and BWX brands (including Sukin), are proudly purpose-led and underpinned by long-standing philanthropic partnerships that align with our values - whether this be reducing our impact on the planet or supporting women’s equality and opportunity. During FY22 the BWX Group donated monetary and product to charity partners. Our brands made donations within their local communities. Sukin has supported Greening Australia since 2018, with a focus on Greening Australia’s Reef Aid program which helps improve water quality on the Great Barrier Reef by rebuilding eroding land and restoring vital coastal wetlands. Reef Aid and Sukin collaborated on a specialty product range (Hand Wash & Body Wash products), with every purchase helping support regeneration projects surrounding the Great Barrier Reef.
