The Ironclad Co.

The Ironclad Co.

We make the only cast iron cookware in Australia, with a Three Generation Guarantee. Every precious family heirloom is made with high-grade recycled iron and arrives completely unseasoned - no unnecessary dyes, chemicals, enamels or paints.

Our commitment

Our commitment to sustainability is cast in the base of every Ironclad cookware product - our trademark Three Generation Guarantee. This is the longest, legally-binding consumer guarantee on the planet, and is our commitment to protecting the planet for future generations.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

We want people to shop well, and buy once. When you buy an Ironclad, you, your kids and your kids' kids are guaranteed never to need to buy or throwaway another pan. Our products have multi-purpose functionality at the heart of their design. And since we put millions of Teflon-coated pans into landfill every year in Australia, buying one quality, locally-made thing that's guaranteed for 100 years will reduce the number of pans we send to landfill every year. All of our materials are locally-sourced, reducing our environmental footprint, and we employ local labour and pay them fairly, contributing to our local workforce and economy.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

Most cast iron cookware is made using virgin materials. However, we only use the highest grade of recycled iron, so nothing is taken from the ground. Our packaging includes no plastic and is made from recycled, environmentally-friendly materials. With our "Planet Safe" knife range, the handles are a tightly engineered matrix of sheep's wool - taking the plastic out of plastic handles. The only knives in the world with wool handles.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

Yes - all of our kitchen and camp goods are made in Australia and New Zealand, partnering with local manufacturers and artisans to create things that will last, and last, and last.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

Every year, we partner with Legasea who are dedicated to restoring marine life and ensuring there's abundance. On Black Friday weekend, we donate 20% of our profits from that long weekend to Legasea. We also partner with a number of charities and NGO's throughout the year.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

At The Ironclad Co., we're passionate about creating an inclusive work environment and are committed to diversity and equity. We are an equal opportunity workplace and consider all qualified candidates for our open roles regardless of age, gender, race, colour, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, family or carer’s responsibilities. We are proud to be an extremely multicultural workplace and enjoy celebrating our diversity.
