Worthy Drink Bottles

Worthy Drink Bottles

Worthy bottles are designed and made in Melbourne from 100% sustainably grown Sugarcane. They are eco-friendly (carbon neutral and zero waste), non-toxic and 100% recyclable (should you ever consider parting ways with your bottle)

Our commitment

Our commitment is to reduce the amount of plastic waste produced by single use bottles by providing a long lasting, full circle reusable option that benefits the planet and doesn't add harm. Our bottles are carbon neutral and zero waste at manufacture, making them one of the most sustainable options on the market. We are committed to educating our customers about buying less, buying well, recycling and repurposing products so they never end up in landfill.

Our Sustainability Framework

  • What is your company doing to reduce your emissions or combat key environmental issues (e.g. waste (packaging, end of life product strategy or recycling), biodiversity, land use, water, chemical use, energy use, and natural resource use etc.)?

We get our sugarcane from Braskem who are world leaders in sustainability practices. The sugarcane is grown in a biodiverse and sustainable way where natural resources are used to grow the crops with minimal use of chemicals. The main resources are sun, rain water and the sugarcane waste (begasse) is used to power the factory. We manufacture the bottles locally in Melbourne to reduce travel emission and support the local economy. We use recycled cardboard for our packaging that is also made locally in Melbourne, reducing emissions. We use compostable mailers to send our products, compostable tape and we use delivery partners that carbon offset or are carbon neutral.

  • How are the products your company offers made from environmentally friendly materials (e.g. recycled, organic materials)?

We use 100% sugarcane which is a natural plant material that releases oxygen into the environment at growth (and reduces co2). It's non toxic and fully recyclable and can be repurposed into new sugarcane products making it a full circle product and material. We use the stem of the sugarcane to create the products and the waste (begasse) to power the factory making them carbon neutral and zero waste. The sugarcane is continually grown so that it is constantly adding o2 to the environment.

  • How are the service/s you offer environmentally friendly?

We offer a full circle lifespan for our drink bottles. We encourage our customers to return any unused or broken products to us to be turned into repurposed sugarcane products.

  • Do you partner with ethical factories that meet international labor standards? What processes have you implemented to make your supply chain more sustainable?

Having ethical factories and practices in every part of production is so important to us and this is why we get our sugarcane from braskem who have much accreditation and certification about the ethics of production. We have visited our manufacturer and have confidence they are meeting standards ethically and sustainably. Our manufacturer reuses the resin waste so they are also zero waste.

  • How does your company give back to the community (e.g. financial donations, volunteering, partnerships etc.)?

We love to give! For every bottle sold we give 10% to Vision Rescue helping abandoned women and children living in poverty in Mumbai (a NFP organisation I have worked closely with). We love to spontaneously give to needs that arise from the Northern NSW floods to the war in Iraq/Ukraine and we give 100% of sales to these causes (usually for a weekend) We partner annually with local organisation ‘Christmas box’ where we donate one box (of food for those in need at Christmas) for every worthy bottle sold over the duration of 4 days. We partner and volunteer with local NFP RAMS and 1ofakind who run resilience workshops for at risk kids. We spoke and ran a dream mood board session sharing about our start up journey and also donated product. We speak at local schools about the importance of sustainability in local communities and how students can make an impact on the world.

  • How has your company made a commitment to achieve and maintain inclusion & diversity (e.g. Gender / Race / Ethnicity / National Origin / Sexual Orientation / Religion / Disability / Age)?

We are publicly committed to being inclusive and showing respect and worth to ALL people. We display this on our website and social media by including diversity of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin. We can improve on showing more diversity with areas like disability and age.

  • How does your circular model or circular initiative work?

I feel we have a circular model in three ways; Our commitment to reducing plastic waste, by providing a long lasting, sustainable option to single use plastic and by educating our customers to make the switch to reusable products. By having a circulatory system where our bottles are made to last, are fully recyclable in household bins or can be returned to us to be made into repurposed sugarcane products, making them full circle lifespan. We are committed to leaving as small a footprint on the planet by choosing the most sustainable material to create these bottles from- reducing emissions and adding to the environment instead of taking from it. Sugarcane releases oxygen and creates energy for production as opposed to crude oils which add carbon emissions using resources and (a lot) of energy to create products.
